Rediscovered Murals at Monterey Museum of Art

Beautiful and historic murals by Armin Hansen and Carolyn Mytinger are revisted--after an absence of several decades--and taken out of storage in preparation for the Made in Monterey exhibit (stay tuned). Hansen’s painted murals date back to the 1930's from the bar at the Hotel Del Monte, but were later dismantled when the Naval Postgraduate school opened. Executive director, E Michael Whittington leads a discussion on the murals while attendees get a rare sneak peak.
2-4pm. Monterey Museum of Art-Pacific, 559 Pacific St., Monterey. Free admission. 372-5477. http://www.montereyart.org.
