Stephen Metcalfe's haunting 1982 off-Broadway hit about two Vietnam War veterans trying to cope with their post-war emotions remains strikingly relevant, depicting real people's hopes and fears. Megs, a redneck veteran, meets up with his war buddy David for a fishing trip as part of a promise to a fallen comrade. When he arrives he meets David's sister Martha, with whom he falls in love. However his presence evokes painful memories for David, a one-time high school football hero who now struggles with depression and alcoholism. L.J. Brewer, Koly McBride and Chuck Messenger star in this popular play that was made into the movie Jacknife. Show runs through August 1. [MC]
