The radical and indie bastion of cutting edge local theater opens the floor to a broad, two-day film festival of documentaries, comedies, animation and miscellaneous other short, punchy works. Assembled to give a platform to independent filmmakers, Paper Wing reinforces its philosophy to "promote free-thinking art in all its forms," as well as its personal cool-osity. There are in-and-out privileges, and the Bulldog--and a pint of Guiness--is right downstairs. With film titles like Dinner for One, 25 Ways to Die, Tao of Pong and Sumbaito (a goofy duet about living out loud), savvy folks should take note. [WR]
1-8pm Sat; 1-6:30pm Sun. Paper Wing Theatre, 320 Hoffman Ave., at Lighthouse Ave., Monterey. $5/day for all films. 521-4512, 675-0521. http://www.PaperWingTheatreCo.com.
