Luis Valdez’ BANDIDO! is a historical American Western melodrama about the life and death of Tiburcio Vasquez, the infamous bandit who was born in Monterey, raised in San Juan Bautista, and became famous in the vein of Billy the Kid and Jesse James after the U.S.-Mexican War. The opening reception brings the high school cast, Luis Valdez himself, Georis Winery and Fornio Restaurant of Carmel to the woodsy Outdoor Forest Theater. (See Theater story.) [MN]
