Who do Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Luciano Pavarotti, James Taylor, Ron Carter and John Lennon share in common? A: Saxaphone impressario George Young. A master studio session player much in demand for his mastery of jazz, swing, fusion, bebop and rock, he's played the Monterey Jazz Festival, contributed to dozens of movie and TV soundtracks, recorded solo and in combos and taught others--as he does during the Hidden Valley Masters' Festival Concert Series. The man can blow. He's joined in tonight's performance by pianist Miles Graber, schooled at Juilliard, and tested with accompaniments with Itzhak Perlman and Nadia Salerno-Sonnenberg. [WR]
