Danu is the Irish version of Mexican music sensation Menudo: band members come and go, but the music and the fans remain. Originating in 1994, the group has a rotating membership door, with the latest incarnation of the traditional Irish band featuring the first-ever female member Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh. Named after the Celtic Goddess, the members of Danu capture audiences with deceptively mid-tempo hooks, which later parlay into some of the fastest violin playing ever heard. Even if you can’t dance an Irish jig properly, the group’s infectious sounds, created by whimsical sounding instruments such as the bouzouki and button accordions, will have you aching to try. QE
8pm. Sunset Center, San Carlos between Eighth and Ninth, Carmel. $35-$40. 620-2048. http://www.sunsetcenter.org.
