In Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days, the main character, Winnie, is buried, flanked by her barely seen husband, Willie. She passes the time between waking and sleeping with mundane routine: talking (compulsively), brushing her teeth, and applying lipstick from her cluttered bag. Post-existential Theater of the Absurd may or may not be your bag, but don’t count it out too quickly: The Waiting for Godot playwright is one of our modern masters, and his work often plays funnier than it reads on the page. Runs through March 22. [PW]
8pm Fri-Sat; 2pm Sun. Carl Cherry Center for the Arts, Fourth and Guadalupe, Carmel. $20/general; $18/student, seniors. 238-1789, 624-7491. http://carlcherrycenter.org/.
