Happy Days at Carl Cherry Center

In Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days, the main character, Winnie, is buried, flanked by her barely seen husband, Willie. She passes the time between waking and sleeping with mundane routine: talking (compulsively), brushing her teeth, and applying lipstick from her cluttered bag. Post-existential Theater of the Absurd may or may not be your bag, but don’t count it out too quickly: The Waiting for Godot playwright is one of our modern masters, and his work often plays funnier than it reads on the page. Runs through March 22. [PW]
