Currently, Mira Billotte is best known for contributing her take on Bob Dylan's "As I Went Out One Morning" to the I'm Not There soundtrack. Billotte's primary project though is White Magic, which is signed to the Drag City label. White Magic's "New Egypt" is strange, hypnotizing stuff: a vaguely eastern sounding song with busy percussion, snake-like guitar, piano and Billotte chanting lyrics including "I can free your mind." Also on the bill is Glasser, whose song "Apply" features tribal drumming, an electronic hum and female vocals floating above it all. [ST]
