This award-winning Oregonian songsmith and artist comes to the 831 wielding both his voice and his guitar. Known for his witty lyrics, his music is a jazzy, countrified folk. Clever and frequently addressing controversial social issues, he always infuses his work with at least a whiff of whimsy. The song "Speak Your Mind", for instance, encourages listeners to stand up for what they believe in. Whether the thoroughly goofy song "Wakey Bakey", addressing the use of Cannabis sativa, rises to the level of socially conscious must be left to the listener. [JF]
