She was a wit and an alcoholic (two qualities that are not mutually exclusive, a poet and short story writer. "What Fresh Hell Is This - The Wit and Wisdom of Dorothy Parker,'' a new play by Tom Parks starring Rosemary Luke celebrates the legacy of the famed member of the Algonquin Round Table. The title of the play comes from Parker's reported use of the phrase whenever someone called on the phone or knocked on the door, interrupting her train of thought. Despite her often caustic remarks, she left her estate to the NAACP, which keeps a memorial garden for her outside its Baltimore headquarters. A chance to re-introduce a great American writer's work to a new audience. Runs through May 24. [PW]
