There’s nothing like a good, old-fashioned ’50s-style sock-hop to kick off the third annual Rock and Rod Festival at the Monterey Fairgrounds. Following the sock-hop, the evening’s lineup of festivities includes an eclectic mix of music, a risqué circus, an Elvis impersonator and a live auction. The evening will close with a dance contest and a best-dressed contest. In addition to the provided entertainment there will be a vast selection of food, drink and merchandise vendors. Proceeds are raised for the Gateway Center of Monterey County, Inc.; an organization serving developmentally disabled adults throughout Monterey County. [AJ]
