The winner of PacRep's second annual playwriting competition has been chosen and it hails from the Bay Area's Jeff Carter, who's won or placed in other competitions like the Eugene O' Neill National Playwrights Conference. His play takes place in a rundown bungalow in La Honda, where Frank (Dharaj Maxfield), a former TV actor and failed businessman, encounters his father Tommy (Paul Myrvold), a blacklisted Hollywood director, and houseguests like runaway teen Dee (MaryAnn Schaupp-Rousseau) and the criminal-minded Alfredo (Garland Thompson). Playwright Carter describes the themes of "traditional noir codes of honor" merging with "today's sensibilities," with the various characters in thier own form of exhile. [WR]
