It’s not hard to understand why an evening with John Cleese would sell out quicker than most events in the area; the 70-year-old Brit was one of the perverse geniuses behind the most infamous comedic groups Europe has ever birthed and hasn’t lost a beat. With Monty Python’s Flying Circus celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, everyone is catching Python-fever. The deadpan Cleese has as much of a knack for writing silliness as he does for playing characters like Tim the Enchanter; he has helped pen several screenplays including The Meaning of Life, The Life of Brian and A Fish Called Wanda, which he was nominated for a Best Original Screenplay Academy Award. And he has much more than a cult following these days; almost 500,000 people follow him on Twitter, daily. [AJ]
