The new shows at the PGAC further cement the institution's glowing reputation. Brian Kauppi has trekked Europe, Chile and the national parks of the Western United States for inspiration for his oils and watercolors in his show, NATURAL HYBRID; P.G. watercolorist Cheryl Kampe captures the Peninsula's fog, light and landscapes in Coastal View; abstract artist Douglas Collins was part of New York's poetry scene in the '60s and screened one of his films at Cannes in the '70s, but now uses sticks, rags, sponges and his hands to create black-and-white works. But the big news is the return of the annual Patrons' Show, featuring a roster of donated works by Sharon Strouse, Connie Pearlstein, Snick Farkas, Mark Farina, Kingham of Kalifornia and dozens of others, all up for sale in a one-to-one "raffle"—you buy a ticket and on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2pm, a drawing decides on the order in which ticket-holders pick a painting. You can't lose. [WR]
Noon-5pm Wed-Sat; 1-4pm Sun. Pacific Grove Art Center, 568 Lighthouse Ave., Pacific Grove. Free to attend; $50-$65/ticket. 375-2208, 277-1344. http://www.pgartcenter.org.
