What's it like to sit on Death Row for a crime you didn't commit? Local producer/director Mark Shilstone suggests the answer in his play, compiled from interviews with absolved Death Row inmates and police officers, court transcripts and interrogations. The Exonerated, written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen and here sponsored by 90.3 KAZU and attended by the Northern California Innocence Project, is performed by a cross-section of local theater talents from PacRep (Julie Hughett), MPC (Peter DeBono), Western Stage (Malinda DeRouen) and others, in a startling look at the true stories of Death Row inmates serving time without committing the crime, and the resilience of the human spirit and, ultimately, truth. A Q&A with Kathleen Ridolfi and Linda Starr, both of the NCIP, follows the performance, and a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception with cast and crew follows the Q&A (extra fee). This show, which looks to be a powerful night of art and activism, raises funds for KAZU. [WR]
