A historic quarter century swam with sharks and sunfish, eel and octopi, bluefin and flounder. But, Executive Director Julie Packard is quick to point out, it wouldn't have flown without the inspiring founders, the marine genius staff, the volumes of volunteers, the support of Monterey and Pacific Grove government, the loyal allegiance of local businesses—and you. This weekend they celebrate that unprecedented partnership with sustainable seafood demo-tastings, live music, family crafts and a scavenger hunt. All events are free with admission; on the actual anniversary, this Tuesday, Oct. 20, admission is free for county residents, as is the cake after the 11:30am Kelp Forest feeding where the sheephead, leopard sharks and rock cod have their own celebratory snack.
