Travel back to a time when Rachmaninoff's Third Symphony was debuting in New York, middleweight champ Stanley Ketchel was to fight the incomparable "Black" Jack Johnson, vaudeville reigned in entertainment, Mark Twain and Ambrose Pierce still roamed the land, and cars were hulking machines of beauty and power. Singers and musicians of Dixie Dixon and Steve Mortensen, and storyteller/actor Taelen Thomas recreate 1909 on the idyllic stage of the Outdoor Forest Theater; audiences are invited to bring a picnic or libations, and blankets are recommended. [WR]
