It's a unique combination of one of Monterey County's most favorite visiting musicians and the photographer whose work has defined this community to the world: The Monterey Symphony presents Ansel Adams: America, featuring music written by jazz great Dave Brubeck and his son Chris Brubeck, while 101 images of Ansel Adams' work are projected above the orchestra, led by the Symphony's music director Max Bragado-Darman. The performances mark the opening of the Symphony season, and also include Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World.'' Brubeck was recently honored by the Monterey Jazz Festival for the 50th anniversary of his classic recording, "Time Out.'' Adams' work honors Monterey, the county, and the universe. [PW]
