The Museum, itself, is a treasure, so their latest exhibit, Treasures from the Basement, only reinforces the riches found within. Museum director/curator emeritus Vern Yadon and curator Mark Walker team up to pick their "favorite" and rarely seen objects and artifacts from the "basement" for a special exhibit. The collections on permanent display are impressive as it is, consisting of taxidermied native animals (the bird displays are packed), native plant species, aboriginal scenes and topographical displays. One can only imagine what they'll pull out the hat for this special show. The reception for which is Saturday, Sept. 12. [WR]
5-7pm Sat reception; 10am-5pm Tue-Sat regular hours. Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, 165 Forest Ave., Pacific Grove. Free/Sat reception; donations appreciated. 648-5716. http://www.pgmuseum.org.
