A mixture of Special K, acid and MDMA is tantamount to the electric circus that is Santa Cruz’s Harlequin Baby. The electro trio—made up of two sisters and one lucky guy—are known for their impromptu performances at their 215 Storey St. residence. Harlequin shows are always theatrical and usually laden with peculiar props and body paint. But the subject matters of their tunes are quite the opposite of nonsensical: Lyrically, the band focuses on everything from abuse to gender and family issues. [AJ]
