Monterey NOW: Ryuijie at Monterey Museum of Art-Pacific

Contemporary photographer Ryuijie creates ethereal, painterly photographs of abstracted subjects, printed on rare platinum in an opaque style that is recognizably his own. Exploring the depths of underwater photography, his installment of the museum's Monterey NOW spotlight show includes the exhibits Kanchi ("quiet place" in Japanese) and Ice Forms, which includes "Ice Form 77," a depiction of a flower frozen under a thin veneer of ice. He will attend the Art After Hours party, which doubles as an artist reception, on Thursday, April 15. The work stays up to July 3. [WR]
