The internationally recognized event, and one of the top three marathons in the country, turns 25 this year with 4,500 dedicated athletes travelling Highway 1 from Carmel to Big Sur. Since the event sold out in record time this year, enthusiasts can stop by the Expo at the Portola Hotel and Spa's Monterey Conference Center for fitness demonstrations and gear from more than 80 vendors on Friday. Saturday offers free health and fitness clinics in the conference center's Steinbeck forum from 10am-5pm featuring talks on marathon greening, injury-free training and Q&A. Finally, the post race party offers time for play starting at 4:30pm at the Monterey Marriott for supporters and athletes Sunday. Party tickets on sale at Expo. [MC]
