Back in the late 70s, bassist John Doe formed X, one of the most definitive bands to come out of the Los Angeles punk scene. Punk rock isn’t Doe’s only means of creative expression: He’s released several solo folk and country albums and has appeared in more than 50 films including Oliver Stone’s Salvador. As the multi-talented artist has grown older, his prose has grown more profound. On the tune “There’s a Hole,” he sings: “Her head turns around and it’s not you, the street opens up and my heart falls through.” [AJ]
