They got trouble - right there in Salinas. No, not that kind of trouble. The Western Stage company is mounting a production of The Music Man, the show that put Robert Preston on the Broadway map as Henry Hill, the fast talking traveling salesman who falls for Marian the librarian. It all takes place right there in River City, in a musical comedy staple that continues a run that beats the band, even though Hill's self-described musical skills as a would-be band leader trying to raise money to buy the town a pool table are, as audiences soon find out, severely inflated. The show runs through Aug. 14 [PW]
8pm Fri-Sat; 2pm Sun. Western Stage Main Stage, 411 Central Ave., Salinas. $30/adult; $21/juniors (16-17), seniors and military, $10/children (5-15). 755-6816. http://www.westernstage.com.
