Two months in and the hits just keep on comin'. This night under the stars shines on an Australian entry about an 8-year-old boy who, after teases from his friends, wishes everyone in the world was gone—and it may work; a French short finds a woman appreciating life at the edge of death; Beast, from Denmark, visits a 10-year-old boy who witnesses his father beat his mother, and wants atonement; a Sebia/Netherland film examines how children playing in Asia might find their way to peace out of war; from Brazil, a look at stereotypes from the visage of a mysterious, young, dark-skinned man carrying a long black case; and Three-Fifty, from the U.S., examines issues of privacy rights in the exchange of a man trying to weasel out of his late fees at the video store.
Dusk (8-8:40pm) films start. Henry Miller Library, Highway 1, quarter mile south of Nepenthe, Big Sur. Free; donations appreciated. 667-2574. http://www.henrymiller.org.
