The folk-roots quintet Cave Country have been likened to the New Riders of the Purple Sage with the vocal harmonies of The Byrds. The earliest incarnation of the Highland Park band goes back 16 years ago when Jim Reynolds and Evan apRoberts were in middle school. On their first full-length album, they enlisted producer-engineer Beau Raymond, known for his work with bands like Little Joy and Devendra Banhart. Big Sur’s own Levi Strom opens with his irresistible foresty finger picking and his large crop of curls. [AJ]
