Way back in 1964, an up-and-coming folksinger named Bob Dylan played a benefit with his then girlfriend, Joan Baez, at the Monterey County Fairgrounds for Pioneer House, a nonprofit, racially integrated nursery school in Seaside. Dylan (and Joan) have been up and down and all over the planet since that time, as has been documented in a gazillion books, articles, movies and blogs, but Zimmy is making a return to the scene of the crime (sans Joan, one assumes) this week as part of the Never-Ending Tour with which the indefatigible 69-year-old minstrel has chosen to spend his old age. Boomers and new fans alike should delight in the reappearance of the gnomic self-described "song-and-dance man." You never quite know what Bob's up to - and he doesn't seem to, either - but it must be said, that he and his country-tight band put on a hell of a show. The young but esteemed Dough Rollers open this gig. [PW)
