Monterey has usually only offered dance-seekers a louder (or sometimes live) version of radio hits. That can get old really fast and at long last electronic dance music is given some floor space in Monterey. This will also serve as a perfect introduction to people who think techno is nothing more than 8-bit bleeps and bloops (don’t get me wrong, that’s cool too). The collective known as W.A.R.M.T.H. (We Are Revolutionizing the Movement of Techno and House) runs an online radio station featuring a group of very talented DJs who understand that a great DJ has to approach their work like a mad scientist; gather a strange, sometimes abnormal, assortment of pieces, stick them together and blast it with volts until it becomes a new, living entity. One hour mixes of samples become one long statement. The after party will feature music from W.A.R.M.T.H. members Teeto, Sparkinzi, and Papouban as well as guest DJ Syst3m. All ages are welcome. [LC]
