“The Nutcracker,” this ain’t. Smuin’s sensational seasonal show steps out of traditional ballet mode, though there are plenty of pirouettes, in an engaging, highly energetic tour de force. The musical range, from Elvis to Christmas carols, sets the tone for a whimsical dance journey across genres. One minute, the Ballet is charming and quaint; the next, it’s sexy and sizzling.
