Dmitry Yablonsky is returning as a guest conductor of the prestigious Monterey Symphony for their performances at Sherwood Hall in Salinas on Satuday and Sunset Center in Carmel Sunday and Monday. Eleven years after his debut with the symphony he is back on the Peninsula after leading orchestras throughout Europe, Asia and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra and winning a Grammy nomination last year for his recording of the Miklos Rosza Violin Concerto. He will be playing Glinka, Shostakovich and Scriabin from his extensive discography and is one of the finest cellists of his generation performing the great concertos, chamber music and recitals. There will be a free pre-concert lecture one hour before each performance. [KP]
