New York-born Claire Lerner set out as a photographer, earning a BFA and MFA in Fine Art Photography from the State University of New York at Buffalo, teaching at MPC and Santa Catalina, and showing all over Central and Northern California. For the past six years, she's added a couple dimensions to her work. She's transcribed bits of overheard conversation into a sequential journal, taken photos of the places from which they came, and meshed them together under themes like "sky" and "water" (a recurring theme in her work). After the opening at tonight's reception, the show runs until Feb. 19. [WR]
