Orchestra of Antlers, from San Francisco and Monterey (CSUMB, to be exact), do dynamic indie rock with poppy elements like a xylophone stirred into Built to Spill-like guitar jams. San Diego's Gray Ghost seem to take after Wilco, with quirky little twists to guitar-driven diddies, accompanied by keyboards and violin. Their "On Her Jacket" sounds like emo go-go music when the tamourines get to shakin'. Greg Gibson, backed by a full band, counts as influences Radiohead and Otis Redding (he's more the former than the latter). [WR]
