Where to begin? The more than two weeks of concerts and events take place every day, at multiple venues a day, making for a zig-zagging race against time for classical music enthusiasts to take in the bounty. Luckily, many of the programs receive encores in the second week, so planning is key for this, the farewell season for maestro Bruno Weil. Pre-festival events start the spark in open rehearsals, master classes and a chamber concert July 10-15; while the free Discovery Series entertains while educating through community concerts, open rehearsals, behind the scenes peeks and pre-concert talks July 8-30. Chamber Concerts & Recitals give a platform for various instruments and singers, chamber and chorale concerts, suites and guest artist Raphael Wallfisch (July 14, 25, 29) from July 18-30, divided into morning, afternoon, twilight and candlelight sessions. The main courses take place mostly at the Sunset Center, in a diverse platter that includes Beethoven, Monteverdi, Brahms, Haydn and, of course, the German Baroque master, played in variations of international and national guest artist, the Festival Orchestra and Chorale, culminating in the Weil send-offs, Bittersweet Gala and the Best of the Fest, on July 31.
