Lead singer Elliot Craig named the band after his infatuation with a girl that only existed through emails and an occasional phone call. This is both clever and somewhat depressing. The songs follow suit, as they are full of bittersweet harmonies; both adoring the idea of love but hating the reality of it. The band’s sound is large, suggesting they are aiming for arena nosebleed seats. Think a mixture of Doves, Voxtrot and Coldplay (the good Coldplay). There is plenty of soaring guitar twinkling like on the lovely “Lovesick Soul,” which has a taste of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.” The Dreamer and the Sleeper also play. [LC]
