This isn't your mom's kind of doo-wop. In celebration of release of their first album, "Smell the Mitten," The Hot Toddies are embarking on a West Coast tour. Their lyrics are diverse and sometimes nonsensical, but strong instrumentals and vocals are reminiscent of such bands as Le Tigre and The Dance Hall Crashers. Some of their best songs include the tongue-in-cheek "Seattle", upbeat "Photosynthesis" and melodic story "Anaïs Nin vs. The Pirates of Santa Cruz." Come early for dinner and expect an evening that will show you the booze-swilling, fun-loving girls from Oakland really are all that and a bag of chips. [KS]
