In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Forest Theater, the Guild stages a special performance of Lewis Carroll's Alice that harkens back to founder Herbert Heron's 1912 direction of the children's fable in the very same spot, utilizing the majestic and mysterious trees and incorporating the audience into the fantastical tale. Kay Akervik (Alice), Skip Kadish (Mad Hatter) and Teresa Del Piero (Duchess) take the leads, under the direction of Mark Englehorn, garbed in what promises to be creative and sumptous costumes by designers Domini Anne and Anne Niland of Steampunk Designs, flanked by elaborate sets by Nicole Anne Stevens. My ears and whiskers, this sounds splendid. It runs to July 25. And don't be late for July 9th's "Mad Hatter's Opening Night Party" at 6:30pm in which Heron and Cole Weston will be honored for their contributions to the life of the storied theater, with members of the Weston and Heron families and Ansel Adams descendents in attendance, a buffet dinner and wine from Ventana Winery, and a birthday cake with 100 candles, emceed by little Tanner Gray.
