A little bit of Hawaii never hurts. Leina'ala Kailiawa aka Lava, comes from the island of Moku ‘O Keawe (the Big Island) and cannot remember a time when the ukulele was absent from her life. Lava met singer-guitarist Jonathan Siebrandt aka Moon in a tiki bar in Mammoth Lakes and Lava Moon was born. The band’s sound is airy and psychedelic with an undeniable Hawaiian influence. And the innocence in Lava’s voice is reminiscent of Little Joy’s Binki Shapiro. [AJ]
