The Met's Peabody Award-winning live satellite broadcast series of 2009-10 season ended last May. Or did it? If you missed any of these acclaimed spectacles, take note: They're running five encore highlights from previous seasons for a two-month summer run on 6:30pm Wednesdays and, as an encore of an encore, the following Thursday at 10am. The run includes Gounod's Romeo et Juliette June 23-24, conducted by legendary tenor Placido Domingo, and starring Anna Netrebko and Roberto Alagna as the tragic young lovers. July 7-8, Tchaikovsky's masterpiece, Eugene Onegin, stars the incomparable (and supposedly really homey) Renee Fleming, Ramon Vargas and Dmitri Hvorostovsky. July 14-15, masterful opera director Franco Zeffirelli takes the reigns of Puccini's La Boheme, about young destitute artists in Paris, starring Ramon Vargas, Angela Gheorghiu and Ainhoa Arteta, conducted by Nicola Luisotti. July 21-22, a Zeffirelli production again with Puccini's epic Turandot, starring Maria Guleghina, Marina Poplavskaya and others, conducted by Andris Nelsons. The highlights are concluded July 28-29 with director Richard Eyre's innovative production of the ever-popular Bizet opera, Carmen, which caused turmoil in the Met audience, but earns a return with Elina Caranca as Carmen, Roberto Alagna as Don Jose, conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin.
