Brown has drawn comparisons to satirist at large David Sedaris, but while Sedaris draws laughs with his dry, monotonous wit, Brown is like a spark plug, unpredictable and electrifying. The poet incorporates music and a stand-up comic’s mentality to his readings. He’s toured extensively and is a hit with celebrities, but he is, at heart, a writer of tangible imagery and tantalizing verbiage. Humor, however, is always around the next syllable. His poems are strangely beautiful and truly funny and Brown is definitely one of a kind. Those who wish to attend his performance must RSVP to Jeff Grossman at jeff@simile.me to find out the location. [MF]
