The Year of Magical Thinking at Carl Cherry Center

A dramatic adaptation of Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking, her moving memoir about the death of her husband, author John Gregory Dunne, is coming to Carmel. Carol Daly, who previously appeared in last year's MPC production of Samuel Beckett's Happy Days, takes the stage in a one-woman performance depicting the Sacramento-born author Didion's complicated emotional journey dealing, not only with Dunne's death, but the multiple illnesses of their daughter, Quintana. Didion, the author of such masterpieces as Slouching To Bethlehem, has never been more eloquent. This promises to be an emotionally wrenching, but ultimately rewarding, dramatic experience. It's been extended to July 2 and 3. [PW]
