So now that corporations have been granted unlimited "freedom of speech" in the arena of contributions to political campaigns by our mostly conservative Supreme Court, it seems like as good a time as any to explore what kind of citizens they might make in our civic affairs. This monumental documentary, which was called one of the most frightening movies of its time, does so. The verdict? If we were to analyze the modern corporation by the accords of the Psychiatric Handbook, they would be classified as psychopaths based on, according to the film and the New Direction Film Series, their "callous disregard for the feelings of other people, the incapacity to maintain human relationships, reckless disregard for the safety of others, deceitfulness, the incapacity to experience guilt, and the failure to conform to social norms and respect for the law." There's a silent war being waged on what it means to be a citizen, and, right now, "they" are winning. [WR]
