Varda was one of the few womean directors at the forefront of the French New Wave cinema, starring Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut, Claude Chabrol, Alain Resnais and her late husband, Jacques Demy. After an illustrious career, which includes films like Vagabond and Cleo from 5 to 7, she explores her memories, film, family and life, really, in this documentary about a seminal director and artist, of whom Roger Ebert wrote: "She is a great director and a beautiful, lovable and wise woman..If you haven't seen a single film by Agnes Varda, perhaps it is best you start with The Beaches of Agnes."
