These cats came together in 2008 and have been laying down the old school, R&B and dance rock vibe ever since. Some of the members of the band—which includes Gene Verba on keyboard, drumb by Jason Macintosh, lead guitar Joe Novencieo, Tommy V on percussion (congas, timbales), singer Dave Bucalo, bass player Marlo DelaCruz and new female singer T.A.—played in Chicano All-Stars and New Connections, so you know they've got chops. They cover Tina Marie's "Lover Girl," The Commodores' "Brick House," Earth, Wind and Fire's "Let's Groove," and ignite the dance floor with CCR's "Sweet Home Alabama" and Santana's "Black Magic Woman." (The women like Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive") They'll play four sets tonight—four!—until the wee hours. But they're not new to a marathon pace: They played a gig at the Big Sur Marathon party. [WR]
9pm-1am. Sly McFly's, 700 Cannery Row, Suite A, Monterey. 649-8050.
