You just look at John "Broadway" Tucker and you know he's about the blues. He wears dapper suits with a matching fedora, big unstylish glasses, and a grizzled face framed with salt-and-pepper hair. But you hear him and his band—he holding court like a preacher/emcee, marching in place to his scortching guitarists, church-y organ, and steady rhythm section—and you know they're about business—the business of the blues. The Bay Area Blues Society is with us on that. On Sunday, March 28, they're awarding them with the Best Blues Band award in Oakland. [WR]
