Last year, the long running California rock band The Mother Hips invited 11 of their favorite bands to perform with them at a two-day music festival on the lawn of Henry Miller's Library. This time around, the Hips are going even bigger with a better lineup and a festival that also includes camping. (Camping tickets are now sold out, but day passes are still available.) Among the acts, local music fans should know Jackie Greene, the acclaimed singer/songwriter who was born in Salinas and has performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival and Carmel's Sunset Center. In the up-and-coming category is Los Angeles' Dawes, a folk rock quartet that garnered raves at this year's South By Southwest. After the intimate Hipnic II, Dawes will be playing almost all of the summer's biggest festivals from Bonnaroo to Lollapalooza. (See story.) [ST]
