During Dylan Thomas' reading tour of the U.S. 60 years ago, which popularized poetry readings here for a while, the Welsh poet spent a night in Big Sur with Henry Miller at his Partington Ridge home. To commemorate that meeting of the minds, the Henry Miller Library is throwing a celebration featuring poetry readings by Big Sur poet Carolyn Mary Kleefeld and Peter Thabit Jones, a Welsh poet whose work "The Lizard Catchers" was nominated for the 2007 Welsh Book of the Year. Also, there will be music courtesy of the Carmel Valley singer/songwriter Martin Shears. [ST]
7:30pm. Henry Miller Library, Highway 1, quarter mile south of Nepenthe, Big Sur. Free but donations appreciated. 667-2574. http://www.henrymiller.org.
