La Esquinita is a town on the verge of destruction. The Thompson Tire Factory, primary employer for the townspeople, has up and gone to China, leaving most without jobs and few with hope. Daniel, 18, addicted to chrystal meth and on the verge himself, experiences the lost dreams of this God-foresaken place as no one else can. Played solo by La Esquinita’s author, Ruben C. Gonzalez, Daniel takes the audience through the tragedy of this place that all too closely resembles communities all through out the U.S.A. Seven others meander across the stage and the omniscient Lencho fills in the details of this American saga that reflects our changing times. (Not recommended for children.) [MF]
