16th Annual Bike Week

It's time to leave the car in the garage and hit the streets like your license was revoked. In a week dedicated to exercise and environmental responsibility, the 16th Annual Bike Week is upon us. Tuesday May 11 will test man against machine during a Bike Vs. Car Challenge beginning at 7:45am. Bikers will race motorists across Salinas starting at Northwest Corner of Natividad/Alvin Intersection and ending at the Star Market with a reception waiting at the finish line. Riders must receive pre-approval from Kaki Chen (775-4413). There will also be ride with elected officials in Salinas at 4:30pm. The ride begins at The Steinbeck Library and leads to City Council Chambers for a Council Meeting. Wednesday May 12 will give riders a chance to ride through the sunset hours at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. All ages are welcome to the Twilight Ride which will begin at 5:30pm and end at 7:30pm. The cost will be $10 per rider. The heart of Bike week will take place on Thursday May 13 as all are asked to Bike to Work and Bike to School. Breakfast will be served at various locations from 7-9am.
