Oakland bluesman Big Cat Tolefree has played with The Temptations, Jimmy McCracklin, Pinetop Perkins, Bobby Rush and other heavies, but the big man can command the stage by himself just fine. He and his tight band filled up the stage of the Bay Area Blues Society's Fourth of July concert with sonic fireworks on a swinging "The Thrill is Gone" (but not gone from their performance). They do the the kind of blues people can't get enough of, which can explain why they've got bookings from Sly McFlys' Blues Festival afterparty in July to Switzerland's Lucerne Blues Festival in November.
